🌶️ The Origins:

Tabasco started on Avery Island, Louisiana, over 150 years ago.

Edmund McIlhenny, the founder, aged peppers in vinegar for 3 years — a method still used today.

🌱 Pepper Growing:

Seeds come from Avery Island, selected by the company’s president himself.

Most peppers are now grown in Central and South America because of the ideal climate.

Harvesting is still done by hand, using a tiny red stick to match the perfect pepper color.

🏭 Processing:

Fresh peppers are ground with salt into a mash just hours after picking.

The mash is aged in old whiskey barrels for 3 years, topped with salt to naturally seal and ferment.

🥣 Blending & Bottling:

After aging, the mash is blended with vinegar (70/30 ratio) and stirred for 3 weeks.

After careful filtering and quality control testing (taste tests and lab checks!), the sauce is bottled in glass — not plastic — to preserve flavor.

They produce up to 700,000 bottles a day, shipping to over 165 countries!

🥄 Fun Facts:

Shelf life is 5 years.

Weird combos to try: Tabasco + vanilla ice cream 🍦, or Tabasco + peanut butter 🥜🔥.
