It was either change their decades-old branding or launch a huge marketing campaign to change public perception of the unique name. Neither endeavor was promising. What’s the secret behind this passion is anybody’s guess. Suffice it to say that SPAM had made inroads into the Hawaiian culture and had become a prominent ingredient in the cuisine there.
- Well, a restaurant in Philippines took that idea literally. The adequately named “Spam Jam” is a popular restaurant in the country and has been operating for years. Everything served here has SPAM in it. This includes Spam eggs and Spam spaghetti.
- If you thought a SPAM restaurant was an outlandish idea, wait till you hear about the SPAM museum. Located in Minnesota, the museum features everything SPAM. This includes a room that features the process of making SPAM.
- Having a loveable mascot was a good idea to attract customers and sell products. Therefore, Hormel had a mascot for SPAM. It was an angry looking pig with its left foot stuck out the key opener. I guess sticking it at the pig’s foot was a sensible idea.
