#123: Lufthansa A340-600 (now retired) | LH455 San Francisco - Frankfurt | Full Trip Report & Review

Busy times for me, but more on that later!!

Welcome to flight report #123, a flight onboard a piece of history, one that was quickly thrown out of service due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Airbus A340-600. D-AIHZ was a 10.5 years old birdie named 'Leipzig', a fairly young one.

Part of my so far what has been my latest trip back home, it's been a long time. I chose Lufthansa again because of how cheap it was, and because of the types of airplanes on offer! Always a joy flying in & out of San Francisco - who doesn't enjoy a bit of planespotting right at the start?! It was the busy holiday season so things were pretty crowded.... remember a time without needing masks to fly?!

Lufthansa was....fairly ordinary if anything. Nothing to complain about at all to be honest, the flight was a few minutes late but really no harm done. I liked the idea behind lunch but it tasted strange, and the snack/breakfast before landing was pretty awful: this was a pre-COVID change anyway and one that would likely stay a while. Long taxi back to the gate at Frankfurt too!

There's been a lot going on and I feel it is time for me to make some changes: I acquired my commercial pilot license with multi engine & instrument rating back in January and began certified flight instructor training soon after. It has been quite challenging that requires a lot of work, and I am pretty close to graduating as well. I intend on getting hired as a CFI, building enough hours to hopefully join the airlines... and with international travel almost out of the question for now there just isn't much content for me to share with you. As it stands, I will slowly upload all videos & schedule them - trip reports may or may not be live premieres, and I am a bit unsure of how much content I will be able to work on when I travel as I transition to my professional career. An exciting few years ahead for sure!
