Wood Turned Segmented Jingle Bell

For this year’s Christmas ornament project, I have made a wooden jingle bell. I made this jingle bell out of a maple tree that was cut down in front of my father-in-law's house in 2017. This wood is now dry and it is a very striking, very clear, very light colored maple. It cuts and turns beautifully. I built a segmented sphere out of two half segmented bowls. I turned the inside of these separately. I made a small maple ball to go on the inside of this bigger sphere. I then glued the two halves together with the ball inside. I turned the whole object into a 6 inch sphere on the lathe. Finally, I cut an “X” pattern into this sphere on the CNC machine and this formed the jingle bell. It jingles with a very deep woody sound.
