Seawater Pump Impeller — SIMSITE® 3 × 2 × 9 Auxiliary Cooling Pump
These two SIMSITE® Structural Composite 3 × 2 × 9 Auxiliary Seawater Cooling Pumps were designed and manufactured by SIMS Pump Valve Company specifically for the Staten Island Ferry’s Ollis Class vessels.
Each auxiliary circulating pump is rated for 240 gallons per minute at 36 feet of head at 1,750 RPM. The pumps are engineered to provide reliable seawater circulation and cooling performance in demanding marine service.
Constructed entirely from SIMSITE® Structural Composite Material, the pump casings will not corrode in seawater, saltwater, wastewater, or other corrosive fluids. Unlike conventional bronze, stainless steel, or duplex stainless steel pumps, these SIMSITE® Structural Composite Pumps resist corrosion, erosion, electrolysis, and cavitation.
The SIMSITE® Structural Composite Pump Impellers are lightweight and precision machined to maintain accurate hydraulic geometry, balance, and operating clearances. Their reduced rotating mass helps lower startup torque, shaft loading, vibration, and stress on bearings and mechanical seals.
These corrosion resistant pump impellers and cavitation resistant pump impellers help maintain consistent flow, head, and pump efficiency while reducing maintenance requirements and extending service life.
SIMS Pump Valve Company provides marine seawater cooling pumps, saltwater service pumps, U.S. Navy seawater pumps, U.S. Coast Guard vessel pumps, marine ballast water pumps, marine firefighting pumps, erosion-resistant pump parts, and other long life marine pump components.
The company also provides pump repair and reverse engineering, pump overhaul and retrofit services, and complete seawater pump upgrade solutions. By replacing conventional metallic equipment with SIMSITE® Composite Technology, vessel operators can achieve more reliable, energy efficient marine pump performance with significantly reduced corrosion and maintenance.
