Belarus protests: Protesters take to the streets of Minsk in defiance of military warning

More than 100,000 protesters flooded the capital of Belarus on Monday, defying a warning from the country’s military that it would be responding to further unrest instead of the police.

Protesters in Minsk, Belarus, are demanding the resignation of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko.

The demonstrations in Belarus have been the biggest challenge to Lukashenko’s leadership in his 26 years in power.

A recent election in Belarus that saw Lukashenko re-elected as president has been widely criticized as undemocratic.
