Tensions in the Middle East are escalating rapidly as Iran and Oman reportedly discuss a new fee collection system for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz — one of the world’s most critical oil trade routes. According to reports, Iran’s newly formed Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA) has defined a “management supervision area” and may introduce permits, transit fees, environmental charges, and maritime service costs for vessels crossing Hormuz.

At the same time, the United States has imposed sanctions on Iran’s ambassador to Lebanon, Mohammad Reza Sheibani, along with several Lebanese individuals. Iran has strongly condemned the move, calling it a violation of diplomatic norms and international law.
