In 1892, the body of 19-year-old Mercy Brown was exhumed from a Baptist Church cemetery in Exeter, Rhode Island. Her body was surprisingly well preserved, a fact that led locals to believe that she wasn’t truly dead.

This is the story of Mercy Lena Brown, and although chilling and bizarre in nature, it’s just one story among many like it that span over 100 years.
