KUKA Robot Operating CNC Routers

Automated Routing added a KUKA robot in 2017, which is currently running two Thermwood routers 20 hours per day.

0:00 - Robot removes scrap
The router finished cutting out parts, so the robot begins to clean up. First it uses a pincer to grab and throw away small pieces of scrap. Then it flips over and uses a suction cup to grab the last large piece.

0:35 - Robot stacks parts
The robot uses suction cups to pick up parts, and then neatly stack them on a skid.

1:30 - Router vacuums table
The router uses a custom attachment to vacuum any sawdust left on the table.

2:20 - Robot loads material
The robot picks up a new sheet of material, aligns it, and then places it on the table.

4:00 - Router cuts parts
The router begins cutting out parts. A second router is already cutting parts.

5:40 - Router vacuums parts
The second router has finished cutting, so it vacuums sawdust off the top of the parts.

6:30 - Repeat
The robot begins removing scrap from the second router, and the cycle continues. The camera moves to another position so you get a different view.
