Thalia - María La Del Barrio [Versión Español] - 1996
Thalia - Telenovela María La Del Barrio - 1996
María La Del Barrio is a production of Televisa. It is based on the soap opera "Los Ricos Tambien Lloran", from 1979. In 1995, Thalia and Fernando Colunga starred in this new adaptation, with the antagonistic participation of Itatí Cantoral and the first actors Iran Eory, Ricardo Blume, Meche Barba, Carmen Salinas and Ariadna Welter. María La Del Barrio is considered one of the most popular and successful soap operas in the world, since it has been broadcast in more than 180 countries. It is the last part of the successful Trilogy of the Marias.
The broadcasts of Maria La Del Barrio in Brasil and in many Latin American countries still compete in audience with current series. Due to the popularity obtained with her soap operas "María Mercedes", "Marimar" and "Maria La Del Barrio", Thalia began to be known as the "Queen of Telenovelas". Frequently, some sources consider "Marimar" as the most successful of the Trilogy and the one that gave the artist the most fame. However, "Maria La Del Barrio" is Thalia's soap opera with the highest worldwide broadcast. This production broke audience records in more than 40 countries in its original broadcast, surpassing "Marimar", which until then was the most distributed. Like Marimar, the soap opera "Maria La Del Barrio" paralyzed countries such as Brasil, Africa, the Philippines, Cyprus and many others. This one was also distributed in 180 countries and translated into many languages. Thalia has stolen the hearts of millions of followers around the world with the acclaimed Marías' trilogy.
"María La Del Barrio" is the last single from her fourth studio album titled "En Extasis". It was written by Viviana Pimstein and Paco Navarrete, and produced by Emilio Estefan Jr. and Kike Santander. With the song "Maria La Del Barrio" Thalia followed the success of "Thalia mania". The song was number one in more than 20 countries. The song is considered part of the soundtrack to Thalia's career. After phenomenal success in the Philippines, where it was the most played song in 1997, Thalia recorded the song in Tagalog version, titled "Mariang Taga-Barrio". It was part of her Tagalog album "Nandito Ako" released that same year.
