Hi. I’m Denise. Thank you for watching my video. Today I’m going to talk about connecting the cursive a to other letters. Okay? So let’s get started. Here’s a lowercase a by itself, so the next letter will connect to this bottom part here. So whatever letter comes next is going to be connecting from the bottom. So I’ll just write several a’s together so you can see how they’re connected. A, I come down and I have to go up for the next a. So my next a, remember the a started at the top so the next one has to start at the top, too. So I had to go up and I’m at the top. Now I come back down and make my a and I come down. I need to get to the top to start a new one, so I go back up to the top. Now I can start my new one. There’s a. So I keep going to the top so I can start the new a.

Okay, here’s an a and a b. Now because the b starts at the bottom, I could go right into it. I didn’t have to go into a special position like I did with the a. So that’s a-b. Here’s a-c. Now I had to go back to the top to start my c. Just like I had to go back to the top to start my next a, I have to go back to the top so I can start my c. So you always go to the beginning position of the next letter. If it’s a letter that starts at the top, you’re going to have to go up to the top. If it’s a letter that starts at the bottom, you can start right at the bottom. Okay? Here’s a-d. So I have to get to this starting point for my d and I go around and up. a-e. The e starts at the bottom so I just stay here. a-e, a-f. The f started at the bottom so I was fine. A, now the g starts at the top, so I have to go up here to the top. Now I start my g. a-h. The h started at the bottom so I was okay. I will start at the bottom, so that’s a-i. J starts at the bottom, so here’s a-j, so I was okay there. a-k. Okay, let me write a few words that begin with a, okay? So I will start with ant, a-n-t. How about any? a-n-y. How about agree? a-g-r-e-e. How about after? a-f-t-e-r. Okay? ant, any, agree, after.

Connecting a capital a to the other letters is similar to connecting the lowercase a because the capital a and lowercase a look the same. Here’s a capital a. I wrote the word and. The connection is the same as the lowercase. Here’s a-n-d. The lowercase a just connects at the bottom. The uppercase a is the same. A just connects at the bottom, a-n-d. So you can connect the uppercase a with other letters in the same way that you connect the lowercase a.
