Pz IV Ausf J - Panzerkampfwagen IV Ausf J
The Panzerkampfwagen IV (PzKpfw IV), commonly known as the Panzer IV, was a German medium tank developed in the late 1930s and used extensively during the Second World War. Its ordnance inventory designation was Sd.Kfz. 161.
The Panzer IV was the most numerous German tank and the second-most numerous German armored fighting vehicle of the Second World War, with some 8,500 built. The Panzer IV chassis was used as the base for many other fighting vehicles.
Finland bought 30 Pz IV Ausf J in 1944. Only 15 of these were received. The tanks did not see actionin the war.
Kuvaus suomeksi:
Suomi osti Saksasta jatkosodan aikana 15 kappaletta uusia Pz IV Ausf J -vaunuja hintaan 5 000 000 Suomen markkaa kappale. Suomalaisilta peritty hinta oli noin kaksinkertainen valmistuskustannuksiin nähden. Suomessa vaunut ehtivät sotatoimiin ainoastaan entisiä omistajiaan vastaan Lapin sodassa. Niitä käytettiin myöhemmin koulutukseen ja yksi esittää ensimmäisessä Tuntematon sotilas -elokuvassa KV-1-neuvostovaunua.
