Can A Child be Narcissistic? Early Signs & Advice

How does an adult become a Narcissist? Where does it all begin? Let’s look at whether or not a child can be narcissistic. Let me note that a personality disorder can’t be diagnosed until a person is 18 y/o. The reason for that guideline is that the personality is in constant development throughout childhood and adolescence. For that reason, we need to wait to see how the child’s personality unfolds before officially proclaiming the personality to be “out of bounds.”
But... even though a child can’t be formally diagnosed with a personality disorder, if we look carefully we can see the beginnings of trouble — and perhaps that knowledge can help you help a child to become whole... or, if you are in a relationship with an adult who has a narcissistic personality, knowing how he got to that point can help you influence him/her.
