Security Forces Conduct Mock Drills Along Jammu-Srinagar National Highway Ahead of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra

Kulgam, June 15: As part of extensive security preparations for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, security forces conducted comprehensive mock drills at the airstrip stretch along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Kulgam district.

The exercise was aimed at assessing and strengthening the preparedness of various security agencies to effectively respond to emergency situations during the annual pilgrimage. The mock drills simulated different contingency scenarios, including Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blasts, terror attacks, and other security-related incidents.

Personnel from Kulgam Police, Border Security Force (BSF), Indian Army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and other allied agencies participated in the exercise, demonstrating coordinated response mechanisms, area sanitization procedures, evacuation operations, traffic management, and emergency medical assistance.

Officials stated that the drills were conducted to evaluate inter-agency coordination, improve response time, and ensure the safety and security of pilgrims travelling along the highway during the Yatra. The exercise also tested communication networks and emergency response protocols under simulated high-risk situations.

The mock drill witnessed active participation from all concerned departments and highlighted the commitment of security forces towards maintaining a secure and peaceful environment for devotees undertaking the sacred pilgrimage.

Authorities reiterated that elaborate security arrangements are being put in place across the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and other key routes to ensure the smooth, safe, and successful conduct of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. The administration and security agencies remain fully committed to safeguarding pilgrims and facilitating a hassle-free pilgrimage experience.
