Backstage: Gabriela Hearst x Oribe | New York Fashion Week SS23

The Gabriela Hearst Spring/Summer 2023 Collection drew inspiration from Sappho—one of the world’s first examples of feminism from the 6th century—and gold metallic body forms. Session Stylist Holli Smith complemented the collection with a hair look rooted in simplicity and minimal beauty. A very flat crown grounded the style, with natural texture through the lengths that embraced models’ individual hair pattern.

Get the Look:
1. Start by creating a natural center part, and then tuck hair behind ears.
2. Apply both Volumista Mist for Volume and Maximista Thickening Spray at the root. Then, dry hair completely using a diffuser.
3. Apply Maximista Thickening Spray from mid-lengths to ends.
4. Using your hands, bend hair into an “S” shape to create a natural wave, embracing the hair’s natural texture.
5. Run fingers through hair to break it up, creating a more lived-in look.
6. Spray Après Beach Wave & Shine Spray and Maximista Thickening Spray from roots to ends to add more natural texture.
7. Backcomb hair, using fingers to create a messier look.
8. Finish with Superfine Strong Hair Spray.
