Mountain Mothers [Markhor Conservation, Jammu & Kashmir]

Shot in Kazinag National Park in June 2017, this short film by WTI's Kashmir Markhor Recovery Project team, supported by the J&K Government's Department of Wildlife Protection, shows two Markhor mothers taking their kids, each about 15 days old, on their first outing across steep mountainous terrain. The film was recently awarded the Jury Special Award at the Indian Mountaineering Foundation's Mountain Film Festival 2018.

WTI has been working to conserve the Markhor (Capra falconeri), the world's largest mountain goat and a Schedule I protected species under the Indian Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972, for over a decade.
