Chinese crayfish products crack open overseas markets

China's crayfish industry is casting a wider net at home and abroad where demand is increasing for crayfish and crayfish related products.

In Qianjiang City of central China's Hubei Province, a crayfish processing company has reported an uptick in sales of things like seasoned crayfish tails.

The company handles 500 tons of crayfish every day and produces more than 20 product varieties.

Elsewhere in central China's Hunan Province, workers at a crayfish processing plant are fulfilling orders for clients in the European Union.
Live crayfish are cleaned, sterilized, sorted and seasoned with spicy, garlic, or savory flavors.

Workers say the entire process, from raw material sourcing to finished product, is managed with an intelligent digital control system.

According to the China Aquatic Products Processing and Marketing Alliance, the country's crayfish output surpassed 3 million tons last year.
