Chechnya, Summer of 1996. 1/7

This documentary was filmed on a camcorder in Chechen Republic between April and August of 1996 by lieutenant-colonel Sergey Kolosov. It contains of short interviews with Russian militaries, actual scenes of battle and the evacuation of wounded from the battle zone. First filmed is an armored column. Next tankers tell how they have lost their tank. Then again column passing through a Chechen town, firing. The bigger part of the film occurs in the first half of August. An unit (I didn't understand what kind of unit, seems like a battalion) is attempting to deblock checkpoints surrounded by bandits and clearing up the city from militants.
You will see evacuation of civilians from the battle area. People are running with bags and children in their arms. Two old Chechen women are being carried on the stretchers because they are unable to walk themselves. Gruesome pictures of extraction of the body of a dead russian soldier out of burned tank with wires and belts. Then a field hospital. They do not have enough medicines, there are too many wounded.
And finally the film shows a brief concert for the troops held 30/08/1996.
At that time, the peace talks between colonel Maskhadov and general Lebed have been running on full speed.
These were the last moments of the first Chechen war.
