Technics Premium C700 Series hi-fi and R1 Reference system hands-on

Legendary Hi-Fi brand Technics has relaunched with two high-end high-resolution streaming audio systems.Jonathan Danbury gives Inside CI a hands-on with the new products, launched to coincide with the brand's 50th Anniversary..

“Both of the systems, the premium C700 and the Reference R1, use unique Technics digital technology,” he says. “While the Premium is principally about downloads, it does offer a moving magnet phono input for those that want to plug in their turntable. But the emphasis is on High resolution Audio and getting back that emotional that we know has been lost since the introduction of MP3.” The C700 system comprises an integrated amplifier, streamer with Bluetooth and optional CD player. “It comes with matching speakers which use the dual concentric coaxial design which Technics introduced in the 1980s which gives very precise, detailed stereo imaging,” adds Danbury.
