A Day in KL on a Comfy Budget! #travel #hiddengems #kualalumpur
Try this comfy itinerary the next time you’re in KL! Not too pricey, not too cheap. It’s a treat ✨
📍 Breakfast @ Timothy’s Cafe (RM34.80 / SGD 10.60)
A cozy spot in a 100-year-old building in downtown Kuala Lumpur, blending vintage charm with a modern twist. They’re known for their fresh, handmade pasta!
What I ordered: Granola bowl + cappuccino = 10/10 start.
📍 High Street Studios Pocket Park (FREE)
A secret pocket of calm tucked behind rows of creative studios and concept stores. Loved the quiet and green! It does get pretty hot though.
📍 Riwayat Bookstore (FREE)
The right place to find Malaysian or South East Asian literature. This independent bookstore carries new books, signed editions, used and rare book.
📍 Lunch @ Betel Leaf (RM35.50/Pax ; SGD 10.80/pax)
Authentic South Indian cuisine that’s flavour-packed and filling. Pro tip: Come with friends so you can order more dishes to try ;)
What we ordered: South Indian Vegetarian thali, Chicken 65, Mutton Rogan Josh & Garlic Naan
📍 Aquaria KLCC (RM44 / SGD 13.30)
It’s a little touristy, but I still enjoy going through the ocean tunnel. It’s oddly therapeutic. Note that prices for locals and foreigners differ.
📍Dinner @ Oriental Kopi (RM51.30 / SGD 15.50) @orientalkopi.asia
Serves traditional Malaysian cuisine but most known for their award-winning egg tarts. If you could only order one thing, let it be egg tarts.
What I ordered: Oriental egg tarts, Signature Nasi Lemak, Golden Lime Plum (drink).
📍KLCC Park (FREE)
Don’t forget to catch the Lake Symphony Light and Sound Show which happens every 8pm, 9pm and 10 pm daily.
🏨 Tian Jing Hotel, Chinatown (RM310.03/ SGD 94 per pax)
A rustic boutique stay hidden in bustling Chinatown. I booked the Deluxe Double Room with Balcony which actually fits 2 pax. Loved the high ceiling fan and open-air bathroom; felt like a sanctuary.
📍 Coffee @ Lim Kee Café (FREE)
Right at the foot of the hotel is this nostalgic kopitiam-style café with a modern twist. And because I was a hotel guest, I had a free drink ;) What a treat!
Total expenses (excluding public transportation): RM475.53 / SGD 130.90
Not exactly dirt cheap, but definitely comfortable budget 🫶🏼
