Glazing the Pinch and Coil Vase: Bowl Skillbuilder in Ceramics I with Cone 6 Glaze

This video is the third video to the pinch and coil vase and bowl skillbuilder series showing glaze prep and application using Coyote cone 6 glazes. In this video, I show prep necessary to glaze their vases and bowls, the glaze selection considerations they must make, and also the basic application methods of brushing, pouring, and bulb syringe of underglazes. I made this video for my Ceramics I students at Mason High School in Mason, Ohio. This is the second exercise (non-graded) that the kids do in clay for their semester Ceramics I class. They are adding to their learning and building skills they will use throughout the semester. The learning goals are to add surface design to their forms, reinforce the technique of pinching, while adding coils for additional height. They will learn how to use cone 6 glazes on this skillbuilder.

We are using Standard 225 for this exercise. It is la grogged midfire light brown stoneware which will be bisque fired and glazed.
