The 1996 massacre that changed Australia's gun laws | 60 Minutes Australia

In Tasmania, it's known simply as the 28th. Just mention the date and everybody knows what you're talking about. The 28th is Port Arthur. The 28th is Martin Bryant. In Tasmania, it is the kindest euphemism they can find for the horror of the day and the suffering ever since. As the 28th approaches, Charles Wooley, himself a Tasmanian, returns home hoping to find some meaning in the events and some end to the torment of the victims. He finds neither. Instead a story of tremendous courage and the dignity of the human spirit.
