4K CABVIEW Požarevac - Zaječar -- Winter in the mountainous region of East Serbia

Eastern Serbia is one, a bit forgotten and isolated part of Serbia. Some parts of eastern Serbia are characterized by very sparsely populated parts of mountain ranges and relatively poor infrastructural connections. Railway line Požarevac - Majdanpek - Bor - Zaječar slips through these parts and connects several larger places and cities, and primarily the areas of two large mines. These are copper and gold mines near Majdanpek and Bor.
The mines in Majdanpek no longer use railway services. On the other hand, the mines and industries in Bor are very large and important users of railway services. This large copper mine is used to transport raw materials and sulfuric acid by rail.

This 171,5km long railway line is a hilly mountain line through quite difficult access terrain in some places. There are 43 tunnels with a total length of 19.46km and 50 bridges with a total length of 3.446km. Most of the smaller stations along the line are neglected. The track infrastructure is in a similar, bad and neglected condition. There are many parts where the train moves at a maximum speed of 10, 20 or 30km/h. Today, there are a few of passenger and freight trains.

The route was recorded from the morning passenger train, with an early departure from Požarevac, before sunrise. The journey lasts 4.5 hours and during that time the day is gradually born, the sun rises and all the natural beauties of the mountainous landscapes are revealed. The journey through the snow-covered landscape is especially photogenic and interesting for the viewer's eye from the position of train driver.
