Grilled Hot Link Po-Boy Sandwich Recipe

Ingredients
Hot Link Sausage - okay to use any favorite sausage. A Hot Link Sausage is usually cooked like a regular hot dog, so you are just heating it up. The meat texture is rough-ground and, of course, spicy.
Bread Roll - a Po-Boy sandwich uses a crunchy French roll with a soft inside. They are firmer than the typical soft bun or roll. To make a soft roll crunchy, try grilling the outside until lightly browned.
Lettuce, Tomato, and Dill PIckle - sliced. These are typical Po-Boy toppings.
Mayonnaise - a generous smear on the bread. Okay to add mustard or ketchup.

Directions
I start by slicing open a Hot Link. Okay to leave the Hot Link whole.

You can saute or grill the Hot Link Sausage. In my video, I cook on an outdoor BBQ gas grill. It's okay to saute Hot Link in a frying pan on the stovetop.

The Hot Link is usually already cooked, so all you are doing is browning the meat and heating it up. Should take 3-5 minutes, depending on the heat of the grill.

If your sausage is raw, grill it until done, then slice it open if you like. Cooking it will take 5 to 10 minutes, depending on the heat of the grill.

In the video, I also grill the inside of the bread roll. It takes a minute or two. This is optional if the bread roll is fresh.

Now it's time to bring it all together.

Chop some lettuce and slice the tomato. I use sliced sour dill pickles from the jar.
Smear mayo on the bread roll. Add lettuce, tomato, and pickle. Top with grilled Hot Link Sausage.
