Afghan rugs are mainly woven in the western and northern parts of the country. In the north, the carpets are influenced by Turkmen designs, whilst in the west, the mostly commonly woven rugs are Beluch rugs. The main colours used are a warm blood red, with hints of indigo and the most common patterns are octagons or diamonds in rows.
