WHY POOL BONDING MATTERS
You have to ground everything: the pool water, the metal pool wall, the earth around the pool, the pool pump and other equipment, plus any metal around the pool — handrails, ladder, metal deck. All of it gets connected together with #8 bare copper wire in one unbroken continuous loop. Pumps come with a bonding lug. Heaters and heat pumps too. Filters are plastic — no need to bond those. Done right, the whole system becomes a field of safety — any stray voltage gets conducted safely to ground instead of through someone standing in the pool.
