Slavic Goddess of Earth - Mokosh

The rhombus, sacred to the Slavic goddess Mokosh, is one of the oldest symbols of life, fertility, and time.

We can trace it deep into prehistory. It appears in identical forms across cultures that had no contact with each other, from Vinča figurines in Serbia to Trypillian pottery in Ukraine, and across Neolithic Europe and Asia.

This tells us the rhombus is an archetypal cultural phenomenon — a symbol that naturally emerges in human cultures shaped by reverence for the Earth, the womb, and the cycles of life and death.

In Slavic tradition, it lives on in embroidery, often placed around the waist to honour the creative, feminine force of Mokosh, who represents birth, death, and rebirth.

It’s not just decoration — it’s an ancient memory, woven into time itself. (Slavic Traditions and Mythology by Stefan Cvetkovic)
