Beardaroundtheworld goes to Augusta, Maine, and visits a statue dedicated to America's youngest ambassador, Samantha Smith, who sadly died in a plane crash. The Maine native famously wrote a letter to Soviet Premier Yuri Andropov and surprisingly, received a response AND an invitation to visit the Soviet Union. Her legacy still survives in the fabric of US culture though, and she remains a historically important figure of the Cold War in US-USSR relations.
