Asymptote's first interactive video art installation while Hani Rashid and Lise Anne Couture were artists in residency at the CAAP Street Project at the CCA in San Francisco.

The installation utilized video projects and heat sensors embedded into an architectural installation work. The interactive video sequences reacted to both proximity and touch thereby altering the objects physical form and presence in the gallery space.

Founded in San Francisco in 1983 by Ann Hatch, who also served as its first director, Capp Street Project was the first visual arts residency in the United States dedicated solely to the creation and presentation of new art installations. The organization took its name from the house at 65 Capp Street designed by the artist David Ireland.

Capp Street Project became part of the Watts Institute in 1998.

Since its inception, Capp Street Project has given more than 100 local, national, and international artists the opportunity to create new work through its residency and public exhibition programs. Its mission is to provide opportunities for contemporary artists working in diverse media to create and present site-related installations in the San Francisco Bay Area; to encourage experimentation in the arts; to educate and promote public involvement in the arts; and to contribute to the evolution of new ideas in contemporary art.
