In October 2021, 36 year old Anthony Thomas "TJ" Hoover II was rushed to Baptist Health Richmond in Kentucky following a drug overdose. After several days, doctors informed his family that he had no brain activity and began the process of organ donation. During the "honor walk" to the operating room, his sister, Donna Rhorer, noticed TJ's eyes following her, but medical staff insisted it was merely a common post-death reflex.

The situation became a living nightmare inside the operating room. According to whistleblowers who came forward in late 2024 and early 2025, TJ began "thrashing" on the table and visibly crying as the surgical team prepped him for organ retrieval.
