Tension escalates in West Bengal as Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited the Bhabanipur strong room in Kolkata, raising serious concerns over alleged EVM tampering.

Banerjee, who is contesting against Suvendu Adhikari, claimed that her party received reports of manipulation across several regions. The All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) alleged that ballot boxes were opened without authorised representatives present.

The Chief Minister also accused Central forces of obstructing her visit and warned against any malpractice during the counting process.

However, the Election Commission of India has firmly dismissed all allegations, stating that strong rooms are sealed in the presence of candidates, agents, and observers, ensuring full transparency.

Voting in Bhabanipur took place in the second phase of the assembly elections, which concluded on April 29. The counting of votes is scheduled for May 4.

Meanwhile, TMC candidate Kunal Ghosh visited Netaji Indoor Stadium for strong room inspection, along with party leader Shashi Panja.
