Comme des Garçons Black: How This Perfume Translates Black into Scent

In this video, I review Comme des Garçons Black, one of the most successful examples of a perfume translating the visual idea of blackness into scent.To me, this is not a typical dark, Gothic, or sexy fragrance. Its blackness is quieter, colder, more solemn, and more distant. I discuss Black as a perfume about boundaries, unreadability, refusal, and chosen disappearance. It is not a fragrance that invites people closer. It is a fragrance that quietly says: “I am here, but I do not need to unfold myself for you.”
