Om Shanti – Arthada & Friends

Om Shanti was recorded in the fall of 2005 in Vienna, Austria by Arthada & Friends, a group of Austrian students of Sri Chinmoy that have arranged many of his songs for Eastern and Western instruments. The album contains simple, haunting and soulful songs which touch the soul of the listener, as well as dynamic flowing songs with instrumental solos.

During the recording sessions, the musicians meditated before each performance in order to endeavour to bring to the fore the meditative and soulful quality which is the essence of Sri Chinmoy’s music.
Since 1992, when the Austrian group Arthada & Friends was founded, the ensemble has been regularly giving concerts in 15 European countries, performed in various countries in Asia, South America, the Carribbean, the former Soviet Union and America. The group has 13 male members from Vienna, Linz, Innsbruck and Heidelberg. They play on eastern and western instruments and exclusively perform spiritual songs or mantras that were composed in a meditative state of mind. Most songs are arrangements based on the songs of the spiritual Maestro Sri Chinmoy. The music of Arthada & Friends is well suited for relaxation or meditation. Their music has been aired by various European radio stations and they have produced 5 albums with the sixth on the way.
