Zenith UPA-5 Photographic Enlarger
Pre-disposal demonstration of this classic photographic enlarger from the '70s.
The enlarger mechanism is in excellent condition, with no corrosion.
I replaced the original very basic lens with a third party one back in the early '80s, and I think I had to glue on a thread adaptor to do that, but don't remember the details.
The internal foam lining to the carrying case has turned to a gooey mass. If the unit were to be used, the foam residue would have to be scraped out and the unit cleaned with a solvent. I suspect the inside of the case would remain sticky forever - so I don't think it has any saleable value.
I make an off-hand, sweeping comment in the video that 'no-one uses wet film anymore', which is - of course - technically incorrect. However, given the number of much better enlargers kicking around on the second-hand market, most people determined to persevere with wet-film printing could readily acquire a much more modern and effective unit, preferably with an integral dichroic head.
