BMC 9X - The Mini Replacement That Never Was
Hello again! :D
In the long list of British Leyland missed opportunities, the BMC 9X, and its axing by the new management in 1971, is often considered the worst of them all, as this incredibly practical and nippy little car, which didn't stray too far from the styling of the original Mini, while also presenting it with superb features such as a hatchback, an improved engine, a better ride and a more spacious interior, was shot down right before it could have entered production, leaving the original Mini to soldier on in production throughout the 1970s, 80s and 90s, while British Leyland itself would fall terribly behind the competition in providing practical family machines.
All video content and images in this production have been provided with permission wherever possible. While I endeavour to ensure that all accreditations properly name the original creator, some of my sources do not list them as they are usually provided by other, unrelated YouTubers. Therefore, if I have mistakenly put the accreditation of 'Unknown', and you are aware of the original creator, please send me a personal message at my Gmail (this is more effective than comments as I am often unable to read all of them): rorymacveigh@gmail.com
