Three Shades of Blue : How to Identify our native Bluebell.

APRIL to JUNE is the time for beautiful bluebells. Learn how to identify native bluebells, Spanish bluebells or the hybrid of both. When the introduced Spanish bluebell grows close to populations of native bluebell in Ireland, they will cross pollinate and produce fertile hybrids. It is currently not known how widespread the hybrid is in Ireland and what the long term impacts on our native bluebell will be. Report your bluebell sightings to either http://www.biology.ie/ or http://www.biodiversityireland.ie/
