United has consistently been the leading airline in the country over the past decade when we compare them to the strategies presented by American and Delta.

Now they plan on making their lead even more profound as they will be introducing service into Bangalore from their transpacific hub of San Francisco next year with the Boeing 787-9. They also plan on adding nonstop service from their largest hub at Chicago's O'Hare airport, also to be served with the 787-9.

United's route into Bangalore will connect the tech capitals of both India and the U.S. respectively. The route also likely comes as a response to American's own route into Bangalore, but from the tech center of Seattle instead which includes connecting feed from (soon to be) Oneworld partner Alaska Airlines. We will find out later and see if these two routes can co-exist. No airline has ever served Bangalore to the U.S. nonstop.

Once started, San Francisco to Bangalore will become United's longest route at 7,561 nautical miles. Their current longest route is Houston to Sydney coming at a close second of 7,470 nautical miles.

United's announcement of launching flights from Chicago into Delhi also comes as its been reported by OAG that Air India is leaving Chicago behind on March 28th, 2021.

American Airlines once served the Chicago to Delhi route up until March 1st, 2012 with the 777-200. They noted that their transatlantic joint venture partners (British Airways) better served the route and country of India in general.
