Tsunami Alerts Issued for 11 Countries After Kamchatka Quake
On July 30, 2025, a massive 8.8-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula — the strongest quake in the region since 1952. The resulting tsunami waves hit Japan and Kamchatka, leading to evacuations, including the Fukushima Nuclear Plant.
Tsunami warnings were issued for 11 countries: the United States, Japan, Russia, Canada, the Philippines, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Taiwan, South Korea, Solomon Islands, and New Zealand.
