Amanda Gorman has made history as the youngest poet to perform at USA presidential inauguration. The 22-year-old delivered her original composition “The Hill We Climb” at the US Capitol in Washington in front of Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and the entire nation.

America's first national youth poet laureate Amanda Gorman touched on images of defeat and triumphant as she recited her poem "The Hill We Climb."

"We’ve seen a force that would shatter our nation rather than share it,

Would destroy our country if it meant delaying democracy.

And this effort very nearly succeeded.

But while democracy can be periodically delayed,

It can never be permanently defeated."
