This movie is the top hit of 1970 and a very well made action thriller with stellar acting by dev ,hema and pran , dev and hema the odd couple who define a cinematic ode, dev made more movies with hema than any other actress , 10 in all from johnny mera naam to sache ka bol bala 1985 ,over 15 years ,

the ouvre of this sensation is an oddity as they differ in everything from a generational gap to a cultural background but their sophistication and style make them a revelation almost like CARY grant and irene dunne.

the talented pair hit it off with the first blockbuster JOHNY MERA NAAM which was vijay anands brainchild as the action thriller made a superstar of hema it gave dev a boost too ,this was followed by numerous thrillers all rather diffident and off the beaten track for bollywood formula .

yash chopras josheela is a classy affair about an ex convict while chuppa rustam a well made reworking of mc kennnas gold .

their best together was tere mere sapnne by vijay anand again as the citadel adaptation which is an improvised and sensitive movie on the same theme .
the following shareef badmash and amir garib further cemented their pairing with their commercial sucess .
chetans janeman was a showcase for hema and their last movie as leads together though they did a few special appearances together later.

the couple has a certain suave charm and they look odd but very comfortable on screen as both have a strong persona yet dev has a personalised style while hema is spontaneous,

so the two command a rather unique susceptibility together as they are a generation apart .
butthis is the only pair on mainstream bollywood which sucessfully overcame that hurdle and managed to convince the audience that age does not matter as the convention here became the exceptional rule to sucess ,
