Protests Erupt in Lahore Over India's Suspension of Indus Waters Treaty

Massive protests broke out in Lahore on Thursday after India unilaterally suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, intensifying tensions with Pakistan. Demonstrators rallied in the streets holding banners and national flags, denouncing the move as a direct threat to Pakistan’s water security.

“This is a call for war,” said one protester, referencing the importance of the treaty to Pakistan’s agriculture-dependent population. Another called India's action a “conspiracy” and rejected links to the recent Pahalgam attack, which India has blamed on Pakistan.
