'Green Book' Composer Kris Bowers: From Mid-City to The White House | Magic Hour

"My magic hour is nighttime" 'Green Book' composer Kris Bowers told The Hollywood Reporter. "Between midnight and six am actually. That's the only time where it's really quiet."

Bowers's music career began with parents playing piano music for him through his mother's stomach while she was pregnant. Their dedication to his musical training eventually took him from his neighborhood in Mid-City, Los Angeles, all the way to Juilliard. His work since then includes a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Music Direction and Composition on 'The Snowy Day,' performing on Jay Z and Kanye West's 'Watch the Throne' album, and an invitation to perform for President Obama at The White House for the 2016 International Jazz Day Concert.
