AWS Tutorial - How to Copy An Object From Amazon S3 To Your EC2 Instance Using The CP Command

According to AWS documentation, there are several ways to move data to and from Amazon S3 to your instances. The aws s3 cp command is similar to the Unix cp command. This AWS tutorial video will teach you how to copy an object from Amazon S3 to your EC2 instance using the aws s3 cp command. Use the following command to copy an object from Amazon S3 to your instance. [ec2-user ~] $ aws s3 cp s3://my_bucket/my_folder/my_file.ext my_copied_file.ext

To accomplish this task:
Log into the management console

Select S3 under service.
-Create a bucket and upload your files into the bucket you just created.

Next, select IAM service
-Create an AWS service role with S3 full access permission

Next, EC2 under service
-Create a security group which allows SSH and http/https access
-Create a Key Pair
-Launch an EC2 instance and attach your S3 full access IAM role, security group, and Key pair to it.

Next, SSH into your EC2 instance using putty
Navigate into the directory where you want to upload the object.
Run the following command: $ aws s3 cp s3://my_bucket/my_folder/my_file.ext my_copied_file.ext
