Prof Andrew Roberts - Why we must believe in Western Civilisation
‘Why we must believe in Western Civilisation’ – Ramsay Lecture by UK historian Professor Andrew Roberts, introduction by Ramsay Centre CEO Professor Simon Haines.
As movements proliferate across the globe decrying western civilisation, some challenging its existence, others protesting its study at places of higher learning, is it time to surrender belief?
The answer is a resounding ‘no’ says Roberts. Roberts argues we should still believe in western civilisation, that it should be proselytized around the world, and certainly taught as a discrete discipline.
Professor Roberts is a Visiting Fellow at Hoover Institution at Stanford University, a Distinguished Fellow at the New York Historical Society, and Visiting Professor at the War Studies Department at King’s College London.
