I present examples of using computation for learning in creative ways, and ask the audience to imagine how learning could be when we shift from a focus on information delivery to one of more active, engaged, deep learning through doing by constructing. In particular, I focus on how learners who have not succeeded in traditional school environments can thrive, so that we can create a more just, equitable, and sustainable world.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
