The Invitation
here the composer adds to and paraphrases the words of Emma Lazarus´
poem. "The Colossus", inscribed on the bases of the statue: " Give me your tired, your poor..." In the suite´s only vocal section, the names of the states are sung in the order in which they joined the union. This theme becomes the basis of symphonic march that ends the movement.
