Program Overview
ADHD is often thought of as a disorder of childhood; however, 50-75% of children with ADHD continue to experience symptoms in adulthood and 32% of ADHD prescriptions are for adults. ADHD in adults is associated with significant concerns including work difficulties, social issues, and increased risk of substance abuse disorders. The use of stimulants in adults with ADHD brings up several different concerns than those seen with children. This presentation focuses on the use of stimulants to treat ADHD in adults.

- Outline the prevalence and burden of ADHD in adults
-Compare and contrast stimulants for ADHD in adults with particular emphasis on differentiating long-acting preparations
-Describe the controversy surrounding the cardiovascular risks of stimulants in adults
