Bongo on the Fast - LNER 61306 'Mayflower' Powers Along Eastern Territory - 17/11/2019

After a large stint away from the Eastern area, LNER Thompson B1 Class 61306 ‘Mayflower’ returned to Eastern territory to power Steam Dreams Excursion from Ealing Broadway to York (via Lincoln). The tour would see the Bongo haul the outward only with the return being diesel hauled. Due to running on a Sunday and what with services on the ECML being diverted via Spalding and Lincoln, there was reduced passenger services along the Peterborough to London section of the ECML, allowing the B1 to have some fast line running. After joining the fast at Hatfield, Mayflower is first seen powering over Welwyn Viaduct with the sun in the background allowing for silhouette. The next shot was captured at St. Neots at Loves Lane foot crossing where 61306 is seen racing along the fast, whistling at a Network Rail gang checking the circuit box. The final shot of the day was captured at Peakirk with the winter sun shining on the side of the charter. Mayflower is seen accelerating away from Werrington Junction, also being diverted due to work on the ECML.
