Making Paper from Grass

Making paper using nothing but grass, household chemicals, and hand tools! This was the first week activity for our agriculture and chemistry classes. The students and I had a ton of fun making it!

Watch out for falling trees!

This is also the first phase of restoring the school hoop-house to a functional growing space. It has been years since it has been used or maintained and one of my goals in the first year of my agricultural science program is to return it to production status through an educational journey with my students! This is not all we'll be doing though. Across the school's 350 acre organic farm there are many great resources that require restoration and maintenance. These are the long term goals for the program, but they will take years to accomplish, some longer than others. Throughout this year you will see us set and accomplish short term tasks working towards these long term goals, always planning for where it will put us in the future.
