Jasmine Crockett Faces Criticism For Her Remarks About Texas Gov. Gregg Abbott

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) is drawing sharp criticism for comments she made about Texas Gov. Gregg Abbott (R) at the Human Rights Campaign’s Los Angeles Dinner on Saturday.

Crockett began her remarks by calling for those gathered to “pray for her” because “who knows what I’mma end up saying.”

She then proceeded to speak of the challenges of being a Black woman in America, followed by praising those with intersecting identities such as being Black, female and LGBTQ, before she spoke of the challenges facing Texas.

“Y’all know we got Governor Hot Wheels down there. Come on now,” Crockett said, drawing laughter and applause from the audience. “And the only thing hot about him is that he is a hot a– mess, honey.”
